Franja Petrinović was born in 1957 in Novi Slankamen. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad. He was the editor of the magazine for culture Polja, wrote for the Novi Sad daily Dnevnik, later becoming an editor for the Publishing House Stylos. He writes prose, essays and critiques. He has published: Mimezis, mimezisromana(Mimesis, Mimesis of Novel, novel, 1983, with ĐorđePisarev), Tkivo, opsene: povest(Tissue, Illusions: History, novel, 1988), Izveštajanđela(A Report of Angels, novel, 1997), Predvratima raja (At the Heaven’s Door, essays, 2002, with ĐorđePisarev), Poslednjitumačsimetrije(The Last Interpreter of Symmetry, novel, 2005), Trauma – stečajnelegenede(Trauma-Bankruptcy Legends, stories, 2009) and Almaškikružocilečenihmesečara(The Almaš Circles of Treated Moonwalkers, novel, 2011)
He has received the following literary awards: the Vojvodinian Writers’ Association Book of Year Award (1997), the awards BrankoBajić (2002), Iskrekulture (2006), LazaKostić (2006), StevanPešić (2010) and SirmaiKarolj (2011).
