{"id":7,"date":"2013-02-01T12:42:37","date_gmt":"2013-02-01T12:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eboye.thruhere.net\/kcns\/?page_id=7"},"modified":"2025-08-22T11:28:20","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:28:20","slug":"istorijat","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/prosefest.rs\/en\/istorijat\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PROSE WRITING <em>PROSEFEST<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The International Festival of Prose Writing (PROSEFEST) <\/strong>was founded in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>The venues where the Festival has been held are: <strong>The Cultural Centre of Novi Sad<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<p>High Schools: <strong>\u201cJovan Jovanovi\u0107 Zmaj\u201d, \u201cIsidora Sekuli\u0107\u201d, \u201cLaza Kosti\u0107\u201d, \u201cSvetozar Markovi\u0107\u201d, \u201cKarlova\u010dka gimnazija\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival is organised <strong>IN MID SEPTEMBAR <\/strong>each year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; PROSEFEST<\/strong>, the international festival of prose writing, was founded (originator and founder is Professor PhD Sava Damjanov) with the aim of returning literature to its roots, that is, the live and direct contact of the author and the reading audience. In addition, Vidakovi\u0107 was the most read author in Serbi\u00adan literature during the 19th century, as shown not only by the numbers of copies his works were published in and reprints of his novels (<em>Ljubomir u Jelisiumu, Velimir i Bosiljka, \u2026<\/em>), but also by the long lists of subscribers he used to publish at the end of each book. He wrote in honour of his audiences, not for some \u201cimaginary eternity\u201d, which he stated time and again in the forewords of his novels addressed directly to the reader.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival\u2019s Organizational Board serves also as the jury.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the <strong>\u201cMilovan Vidakovi\u0107\u201d Award <\/strong>has been given to:<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALBERTO MANGEL <\/strong>(France, 2008),<\/p>\n<p><strong>GY\u00d6RGY KONR\u00c1D <\/strong>(Hungary, 2009),<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLAUDIO MAGRIS <\/strong>(Italy, 2010),<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAVID GROSSMAN <\/strong>(Israel, 2011),<\/p>\n<p><strong>SLOBODAN TI\u0160MA <\/strong>(Serbia 2012),<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAVID ALBAHARI <\/strong>(Serbia, 2013),<\/p>\n<p><strong>MILISAV SAVI\u0106 <\/strong>(Serbia, 2014),<\/p>\n<p><strong>EUGENE VODOLAZKIN <\/strong>(Russia, 2015),<\/p>\n<p><strong>GUILLERMO MARTINEZ <\/strong>(Argentina, 2016),<\/p>\n<p><strong>PETER HANDKE<\/strong> (\u041d\u0435\u043c\u0430\u0447\u043a\u0430, 2017)<\/p>\n<p><strong>MILJENKO JERGOVI\u0106<\/strong> (Croatia, 2018)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The special \u201cMilovan Vidakovi\u0107\u201d Award <\/strong>has been given to:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &#8211; Peruvian <em>Nobel Prize<\/em> winner <strong>MARIO VARGAS LLOSA <\/strong>(2015), which was presented to him before the packed auditorium (audience of about 1,400 readers) of the Serbian National Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &#8211; Turkish <em>Nobel Prize<\/em> winner <strong>ORHAN PAMUK <\/strong>(2016). He received the award in front of the full auditorium of the Ceremonial Hall of Novi Sad branch of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Novi Sad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PROSEFEST<\/strong> has organized around 200 meetings with audiences, for approximately 20,000, mostly young members of audience. Discussions with writers have been held by high school pupils.
