Jelena Lengold spent about ten years working as a journalist and editor of the cultural programme of Radio Belgrade. After that, until September 2011, she worked as a project-coordinator for the Nansenskolen Humanistic Academy from Lillehammer in Norway, teaching Conflict Management.<br \/>\nShe lives in Belgrade as a professional writer.<br \/>\nBooks of poetry: <strong>Raspad botanike<\/strong> (<strong>The Collapse of Botany<\/strong>, 1982),<strong> Vrete\u00adno<\/strong> (<strong>Spindle<\/strong>, 1984), <strong>Podneblje maka<\/strong> (<strong>The Poppy Land<\/strong>, 1986), <strong>Prolazak an\u00ad\u0111e\u00adla<\/strong> (<strong>The Passage of Angels<\/strong>, 1989), <strong>Sli\u010dice iz \u017eivota kapelmajstora<\/strong> (<strong>Pictures from Life of a Chapel Master<\/strong>, 1991) and <strong>Bunar te\u0161kih re\u010di<\/strong> (<strong>The Well of Hard Words<\/strong>, 2011). Her book of poems Sli\u010dice iz \u017eivota kapelmajstora earned her the \u0110ura Jak\u0161i<br \/>\nAward.<br \/>\nBooks of stories: <strong>Pokisli lavovi<\/strong> (<strong>Rain Soaked Lions<\/strong>, 1994), <strong>Lift<\/strong> (1999),<strong> Va\u00ad\u0161ar\u00adski ma\u0111ioni\u010dar<\/strong> (<strong>A Circus Magician<\/strong>, 2008, 2009) and <strong>Pretesteri\u0161i me<\/strong> (<strong>Saw Me in Half<\/strong>, 2009).<br \/>\nShe has received the European Literary Award for her book of stories Va\u00ad\u0161ar\u00adski ma\u0111ioni\u010dar, as well as the awards \u017densko pero, Biljana Jovanovi<br \/>\nand the Golden Hit Liber.<br \/>\nNovel: <strong>Baltimor<\/strong> (<strong>Baltimore<\/strong>) (2003, 2011).<br \/>\nProse and poetry of Jelena Lengold have been translated into English, Italian, Danish, French, Bulgarian, Romanian, Ukrainian and Czech.<br \/>\nStories by Jelena Lengold have been selected for a number of anthologies and reviews of contemporary Serbian literature published in Serbia and abroad.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jelena Lengold (1959), a poet, storyteller and novelist.
