He lives in France. He studied history and philosophy. He made his literary debut in the late 1990s. He has received numerous French and international awards. As a writer, he received his first literary award in 2010 for the epic novel <em>Conquistadors<\/em>. Each of his subsequent works, including <em>Tristesse de la terre: Une histoire de Buffalo Bill Cody<\/em> and <em>14 juillet<\/em>, earned him literary awards, culminating in the most prestigious of them all\u2014the Prix Goncourt, which he received in 2017 for <em>L\u2019Ordre du jour<\/em>. His book <em>The War of the Poor<\/em> was shortlisted for the Booker Prize.<\/p>\n<p>His published works include: <em>Le Chasseur<\/em> (1999), <em>Bois vert<\/em> (2002), <em>Tohu<\/em> (2005), <em>Conquistadors<\/em> (2009), <em>La bataille d\u2019Occident<\/em> (2012), <em>Un endroit o\u00f9 aller<\/em> (2012), <em>Tristesse de la terre: Une histoire de Buffalo Bill Cody<\/em> (2015), <em>14 juillet<\/em> (2016), <em>L\u2019Ordre du jour<\/em> (2017; <em>The Order of the Day<\/em>, Akademska knjiga, Novi Sad, 2018), <em>La guerre des pauvres<\/em> (2019; <em>The War of the Poor<\/em>, Akademska knjiga, Novi Sad, 2022), <em>Une sortie honorable<\/em> (2022; <em>A Honorable Exit<\/em>, Akademska knjiga, Novi Sad, 2023).<\/p>\n<p>He is the director of the films <em>La vie nouvelle<\/em> (2002), <em>L\u2019homme qui marche<\/em> (2006), and <em>Mateo Falcone<\/em> (2008).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Erik Vuillard is a French writer, screenwriter, and film director, born in Lyon in 1968.
