She received the Branko Award for her first work, <em>Pesme<\/em> (1982). She worked as a literary editor for <em>East Village Eye<\/em> and <em>Theater X<\/em>, as a freelance journalist for <em>Politika<\/em>, <em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em>, <em>L\u2019Unita<\/em>, <em>Woman<\/em>, and <em>Nexus<\/em>, and as a contributor to <em>The New Yorker<\/em> and <em>New York Arts Magazine<\/em>. In addition to performing with <em>The Living Theater<\/em> and <em>La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club<\/em>, she co-founded the \u201cOdijana\u201d theatre in 1988. In 2001, she earned a PhD in Comparative Literature and Slavic Studies from the University of Nancy, with a dissertation on the reception of the works of Milo\u0161 Crnjanski.<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, she received a special grant from PEN America, and for her project <em>Izvor svetlosti<\/em> (2021), she was awarded a grant by the <em>Centre National du Livre<\/em>. She has taught literature and the theory of avant-garde theatre at numerous universities, including Naropa University, New York University, Harriman, and St. John\u2019s University in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>She has written poetry collections in Serbian, French, and English. In addition to <em>Pesme<\/em>, her works published in Serbian include <em>Mostovi koji rastu<\/em> (1984), <em>Gledaju\u0107i knjige nezavisnih izdava\u010da<\/em> (1985), <em>Duh renesanse<\/em> (1989), <em>Pesni\u010dki divan<\/em> (1995), <em>Minotaur i lavirint<\/em> (1996), <em>Slovo Pi<\/em> (2004), <em>Krajem veka<\/em> (2006), <em>Isceljenje<\/em> (2011), <em>Umetnost hvatanja bumeranga: izabrane i nove pesme<\/em> (2013), and <em>Jedini izvor svetlosti<\/em> (2023).<\/p>\n<p>She has published the following prose works: <em>Vizantijske pri\u010de<\/em> (1995), <em>Prodavci snova<\/em> (2000), <em>Kao \u0161to ve\u0107 rekoh<\/em> (2002), <em>Orfejev povratak<\/em> (2003), <em>Krajem veka<\/em> (2006), and <em>Ono \u0161to se pamti<\/em> (2017), as well as the book of interviews <em>Iznenadni blesak<\/em> (2009) and the study <em>Crnjanski i njegov \u010ditalac: (recepcija Crnjanskog dela u svetu)<\/em> (2012). Her essays have been collected in <em>Ve\u0161ta\u010dka inteligencija i prirodna glupost<\/em> (2021), <em>Nomadkinje &#8211; \u010detrnaest umetnica sa eksjugoslovenskih prostora<\/em> (2021), and <em>Ono \u0161to se vidi &#8211; filmske kritike i eseji 2009-2019<\/em> (2022). Her works have been translated into several languages. She also edited and translated the anthology of American poetry <em>Novi glasovi<\/em> and translated Charles Bukowski\u2019s <em>Tales of Ordinary Madness<\/em>, Simone Weil\u2019s <em>Gravity and Grace<\/em>, and other works.<\/p>\n<p>She has received numerous literary awards. She lives in Paris and teaches languages, avant-garde theatre, and performance at the Sorbonne and Paris 8 University.
