He matriculated from the comprehensive high school in \u0106uprija, and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade \u2013 Department of Yugoslav Literature and Serbo-Croatian language. He has worked as a junior employee at the Army mass (sacked), company for purchase of animal skins and sugar refinery worker; transcriber, salesman, egg reseller, leather packer, travelling circus manager; he has been a political prisoner (1950-52); editor for <i>Mosaic magazine<\/i>, publicist for <i>Architecture \u2013 Urbanism magazine<\/i> (sacked), journalist in a journal for technical education (sacked), rewriter, proof-reader and technical editor for <i>Food and Nutrition magazine<\/i> (sacked), reporter and editor for the <i>Yugoslav News paper<\/i> and rewriter for Serbian language in Poitiers. He became a distant member of SANU (Serbian Academy of Science and Art) in 1981, and a permanent member in 1988.<br \/>\nMajor works: novel and drama <b><i>Kada su cvetale tikve <\/i><\/b>(<b><i>When Pumpkins Blossomed<\/i><\/b>), novel, film and TV series <b><i>Petrijin venac<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Petrija\u2019s Wreath<\/i><\/b>), story collections: <b><i>Frede, laku no\u0107<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Good Night, Fred<\/i><\/b>), <b><i>Uhvati zvezdu padalicu<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Catch a Falling Star<\/i><\/b>), <b><i>Lov na stenice<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>A Hunt on Bedbugs<\/i><\/b>), <b><i>Jalova jesen<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>A Fruitless Autumn<\/i><\/b>); novels: <b><i>\u010cizma\u0161i<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Boot Wearers<\/i><\/b>), <b><i>Tre\u0107e prole\u0107e<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>The Third Spring<\/i><\/b>), <b><i>Zlotvori<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>The Fiends<\/i><\/b>), drama collection <b><i>Uvo\u0111enje u posao<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Getting into the Business<\/i><\/b>); film scenario <b><i>Vietnamese<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Aller retour<\/i><\/b>); non-fiction three-volume title <b><i>Goli otok<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Goli otok<\/i><\/b> \u2013 detention camp); historical study <b><i>Kratka istorija satiranja<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>A Short History of Oppression<\/i><\/b>), articles and essays <b><i>Crveno i plavo<\/i><\/b> (<b><i>Red and Blue<\/i><\/b>). He has published collected works in 6 and 7 volumes, and received the October Award of the City of Belgrade, the <i>Andri\u0107 Award<\/i>, the <i>Golden Arena Award<\/i>, the <i>Nin Award<\/i>, <i>the National Library Award<\/i> for the most popular book of the year, the \u2019Bora Stankovi\u0107\u2019 Award, the <i>BIGZ<\/i> <i>Award<\/i>, <i>Vuk\u2019s Endowment Award<\/i>, and the \u2019Stefan Prvoven\u010dani\u2019 Award of the Ras Spiritual Festivities.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dragoslav Mihailovi\u0107 (1930) is a writer, free lance artist and academician.
