Through twelve stories in which everyday life becomes a space of absurdity, dark humour, and unease, Cooking presents strong female characters striving to reshape the reality in which they live. In the Ditch tells a darkly humorous and grotesque story about a family brought together by a funeral and the division of an inheritance, illuminating the absurdity of everyday life and the consequences of the traumas that shape its characters’ lives. The novel was longlisted for the NIN Award and was among the contenders for the regional Meša Selimović Award; in 2022, it received a Special Mention from the jury of the European Union Prize for Literature. Lijek protiv melankolije unfolds a multilayered story about family, memory, and the weight of the past, exploring the ways in which personal and collective trauma shape individual identity.

The work of Slađana Nina Perković has been translated into Italian, French, English, German, Bulgarian, Albanian, and Macedonian.

Slađana Nina Perković (Banja Luka, 1981) is a writer and journalist.
