ERIK VUILLARD

Erik Vuillard is a French writer, screenwriter, and film director, born in Lyon in 1968. He lives in France. He studied history and philosophy. He made his literary debut in the late 1990s. He has received numerous French and international awards. As a writer, he received his first literary award in 2010 for the epic novel Conquistadors. Each of his subsequent works, including Tristesse de la terre: Une histoire de Buffalo Bill Cody and 14 juillet, earned him literary awards, culminating in the most prestigious of them all—the Prix Goncourt, which he received in 2017 for L’Ordre du jour. His book The War of the Poor was shortlisted for the Booker Prize.

He is the director of the films La vie nouvelle (2002), L’homme qui marche (2006), and Mateo Falcone (2008).
