ELVIRA NAVARRO

Elvira Navarro was born in 1978 in Huelva. She studied philosophy at the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2015, she worked as an editor at the publishing house Caballo de Troya.

She has published the series La ciudad en invierno (The City in Winter, 2007) and La ciudad feliz (The Happy City, 2009), the novel La trabajadora (The Working Woman, 2014), the novella Los últimos días de Adelaida García Morales (The Last Days of Adelaida García Morales, 2016), and the short story collection La isla de los conejos (Rabbit Island, 2019). Her latest published work is the novella Las voces de Adriana (Adriana’s Voices, 2023).

In Spain, she has received the Premio Jaén de Novela (2009), the Premio Tormenta for Best Young Writer (2009), the Premio Andalucía de la Crítica (2020), and the Premio Cálamo Extraordinario for Adriana’s Voices in 2023. The latter was named one of the ten best books of the previous year by the La Lectura supplement of El Mundo.

In 2010, she was included in Granta magazine’s selection of the best young Spanish-language novelists, while in 2014, El Cultural magazine named The Working Woman one of the ten best novels of the year. In 2019, Babelia, the cultural supplement of El País, named Rabbit Island one of the ten best books of the year.

Her works have been translated into English, French, Swedish, Italian, Turkish, Korean, Japanese, and Serbian.
